Tight Ends for Beginners

Disclaimer:
This blog is meant to be a guide for new Goal Line Blitz 2 players.  I am not an expert by any means but I am experienced and I hope that this will be useful to new players.   If you are an experienced player and wish to contribute in a positive way, please do so.    If you are a new player and you have questions please feel free to post them here.
Special thanks to Stobie's glb2scout.com.  This guide would not be possible without Stobie.

In this post, we will look at 2 Tight end archetypes; Receiving and Blocking.  I am not going to post a combo build.  If I was going to go with a combo Tight end it would be a Superstar build.  If I do not have a Superstar TE I like to rotate 2 Receiving TEs.    In a future post, we can explore Superstar Tight ends.

Receiving Tight end

Important Skills for Receiving TEs
I think of my Receiving TE like another Possession WR.  I always start with the physicals...
Conditioning to 45+
Toughness to 30
Heart to 40 +
Balance to 40+
Watch your game film to see if he is getting open and add more sprint when needed.  Focus on Hands, Consistency and Catch in Traffic.  Make sure to keep an eye on Receiving and carrying grip.

Blocking Tight end  (I would use this build in a Run Heavy Offense)
Important Skills for Blocking TEs
Always start with the physicals...
Conditioning to 45+
Toughness to 30
Heart to 40 +
Balance to 40+
This guy is 100% run blocking, no pass blocking no receiving.  Focus on  Run Block Tech, Run Block Aware, Lead Block Aware, Consistency and Run Block Power to 50ish.

In this post, I will focus on the 3 WR archetypes that I use.  Speedy, Shifty Possession, and Slot.  In a future post, we can explore Superstar WRs.

Speedy
Important Skills for Speedy WR
These Physicals are often overlooked by new players and are very important as they form the base of your player.
Conditioning to 45+
Toughness to 30
Heart to 40 +
Balance to 40+

Sprinting and Receiving Hands are your most important skills. After that, are Receiving Consistency and Catch in Traffic.  Then work on maxing Receiving and carrying grip.  You don't want to be a fumble machine.

Shifty Possession
Important Skills for Possession WR
Conditioning to 45+
Toughness to 30
Heart to 40 +
Balance to 40+

The Shifty Possession WR does not rely on sprinting as much as a Speed WR does.  BUT you don't want a sloth in this position either.  Watch your game film to see if he getting open and add more sprint when needed.  Focus on Hands, Consistency and Catch in Traffic.  Make sure to keep an eye on Receiving and carrying grip.

Slot
Important Skills for Slot WR
Conditioning to 45+
Toughness to 30
Heart to 40 +
Balance to 40+

I build my Slot receiver like my Possession receiver.  The difference between my Possession receiver and my slot receiver build is my choice for my second Signature Ability.  On my slot receiver, I go with Slot Receiver whereas, on my Possession receiver, I go with Head Fake.

O-Line for Beginners

My plans are to begin with builds for various positions then talk about how to build a team.  After going over various team builds I will move on to offensive and defensive playbooks and tactics.  This should keep us busy for awhile.  I am sure other topics will present themselves along the way.

For a deeper understanding of how to build players check out AirMcMVP's Player Building Guide.

I believe that there are a lot of different O-Line builds out there.  In this post, I will be sharing with you the builds that I use.  I encourage readers, both experienced and inexperienced, to post appropriate questions and comments so that we can all build a better O-Line.

Center
Important Skills for a Center
I start by getting Conditioning to 45+ (the higher the better), Toughness to 40+, Heart to 30 and Balance to 40 - 50.
For Blocking Skills I focus on Run Block Tech, Pass Block Tech, Run Block Awareness, Pass Block Awareness and Block Consistency.  More Tech than Aware and More Run than Pass.  I personally do not invest much in Run Block Power or Pass Block Power.
A small investment in Snap Reaction, Footwork and Quickness is helpful.

Pulling Guard
Important Skills for a Pulling Guard
Like with my Center,  I start by getting Conditioning to 45+ (the higher the better), Toughness to 40+, Heart to 30 and Balance to 40 - 50.
For Blocking Skills I focus on Run Block Tech, Run Block Awareness,  Block Consistency and Lead Block Awareness.  I personally do not invest much in Run Block Power or Pass Block Power.
Sprinting, Footwork and Quickness are important in that order.  Watch your games and make sure that your guard is getting out front to block for your HB.

Combo Off Tackle
Important Skills for Combo Off Tackle
I start all of my O-line builds by getting Conditioning to 45+ (the higher the better), Toughness to 40+, Heart to 30 and Balance to 40 - 50.
For Blocking Skills I focus on Run Block Tech, Pass Block Tech, Run Block Awareness, Pass Block Awareness and Block Consistency.  With my OTs I try to balance their Run Blocking and Pass Blocking Skills.  A lot of the blitzes that you will see come from the outside so it is very important for your QB that your OTs can at least slow down the outside rush.
I personally do not invest much in Run Block Power or Pass Block Power.
